How do you transfer your AOL screen name to use as a permanent, free screen name? After some coaxing, my dad is *finally* closing our account after twelve years. Sheesh. Anyway, I obviously want to keep my Little Etoile screen name but I don't know how to do that. If it helps, I use Trillian as my chat program.

So on Scott's permission, I went ahead and deleted that other user account. Shouldn't have been a problem, except that the first few times I booted, I got that scary, makes-your-stomach-drop error noise to alert me that it could not log in correctly. So really the only problem I've had with my Dell laptop is that it will randomly disconnect its keyboard function from the computer (or so it was explained to me by Dell) after it's gone in sleep mode, forcing me to "force reboot" without saving anything. Does anyone know what to do if a document mysteriously DISAPPEARS from your computer? Like.. seriously disappears... not in recent documents, not coming up in a search, not in the recycling bin... just GONE. I know I saved it multiple times, so I have no idea what happened. So trying to set up mail on my new laptop (no opinion on it yet except that the monitor isn't what I was hoping for) and I'm having a lot of trouble. I tried first with Thunderbird and had the same problems that I had trying to get it to work with my mac. It kept saying that password authorization failed.
